Representative (Travel) Team Program

River Soccer Club's representative program provides a competitive training and game environment emphasizing in player development. The purpose of our representative program is to help our players take their game to the next level, whether it's making a middle school team, a high school varsity team, or a college soccer program and guide them to achieve each player's maximum potential.

Looking for a new travel team? River Soccer Club holds tryouts each spring, but opportunities are always available to join a RSC travel team. Team training sessions are an opportunity for players to participate in Open ID Sessions with current River Soccer Club travel teams.

Travel Team Try-Outs

Below is key information regarding our try-out process:

Check the website for exact times, dates, and field assignments for your try-out sessions or any updates about weather cancellations.
Arrive 20 minutes early to check in at the building. Here, players will receive their RSC Grey Try-out shirt that must be worn for both session. Players/Parents must check in for BOTH sessions before going to the field. Players should also bring their own ball to the try-out.
RSC Coaches and Assessors will be evaluating all players on the 4A’s Rubric.
o Athleticism- speed, agility, balance, strength, coordination, endurance, etc…
o Ability- Soccer skills like ball mastery, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, etc…
o Awareness- Understanding & ability to read the game, decision making, positional play
o Attitude- Work ethic, listens, willing to learn, good teammate, committed, coachable
Try-out results will be emailed to families within one to two weeks (or sooner) after the final try-out session. This time is used to carefully and thoughtfully select players and form teams.
If your soccer player is selected for the team, he or she must accept the roster spot by depositing a “Signing Fee.” This fee is put towards upcoming fall leagues, tournaments, and club costs. It also confirms your commitment to the team.
After teams are selected, there will be a travel team orientation “Signing Day” to educate parents and players on our program.

College Pathway Program: River Soccer Club has been responsible for preparing and helping our elite players reach the collegiate soccer level for over 20 years. Finding the right college soccer program can be overwhelming. RSC has developed a formalized process in assisting our soccer players to get to that next stage through our College Pathway Program. Monday Specialized Training Night: The Monday Special Training Night is designed to give dedicated players the opportunity to train outside their normal team dynamic. Allowing for interaction with another coaching resource outside of their team coach. There are variety of training sessions available to fit the needs of your soccer player. Futsal Select League: The priority in Futsal is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. The more pleasure kids derive from their participation, the more they wish to play and practice on their own. While their instinct to play is natural, their affection and appreciation for soccer must be cultivated. Travel players will placed on developmentally appropriate teams to compete against each other through the winter. Each session will have a technical training activity followed by the game. The Performance School: A multimodal, individualized program designed to meet the unique needs of RSC’s elite players. Players that are accepted into the program receive additional supports and modifications to the typical travel season. The program is designed to meet the unique needs and ambitions of RSC's very best players. The Performance School is free to all players that are accepted. Click here for more info

Technical Training - INVITATION ONLY: This program is by invitation only to allow aspiring soccer players to experience travel-level training sessions. Individual travel coaches will extend invitations to potential players. Training schedules (Duration, location and night(s) of the week) to be determined by individual travel teams. Accepting a Travel Team Roster Spot

Players must first complete the RSC Tryout Registration for they can be offered a roster position:

Once a player is offered a roster spot on a RSC travel team, the following must be completed using your gotsport account:

Complete the 2024-25 RSC Travel Team Acceptance registration and select a payment plan from the different options
Upload a copy of your child's birth certificate
Upload a passport-style picture (No hats, no sunglasses, no pets, no siblings)
Complete the DYSA forms below (Including the DYSA - Travel Player Registration which requires a fee paid directly to DYSA).

24/25 DYSA - Travel Player Registration Fee and Player Commitment Form
24/25 State of Delaware Player/Parent Concussion Form and Zero Tolerance (required to complete registration)
24/25 Medical Waiver (required to complete registration)

Maryland residents planning to join a RSC travel team also have to register in Maryland and upload a copy of their MD Player Pass - MD Out-of-State Player Registration
